In this photograph the tug Welland is seen lashed up to the St. Lawrence
Seaway barge SMV 086 on April 14th, 1992, in the Welland Canal north of lock 3 in St. Catharines.
They were replacing the wooden log bouys with metal flashing marker bouys in the section of canal
between locks 2 and three. Wooden bouys are put in place for the winter months so that the lighted
ones won't get damaged by ice.
