The 1906-built bulk carrier Heron Bay is seen in this photograph as she was approaching the entrance of the Welland Canal during the morning hours of July 14th, 1973. At the time it was taken she was sailing southbound loaded with cord wood that was destined for the Quebec & Ontario Paper Mill in Thorold. She was scrapped in 1979 at Lauzon, Quebec.
