Mapleglen - Canada

The bulk carrier Mapleglen is seen in this photograph transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of July 13th, 2001. At the time it was taken she was sailing northbound in the canal above lock 2 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

She was loaded with wheat from the United Grain Growers "M" elevator and the Saskatchewan Pool #7A elevator in Thunder Bay and soybean pellets from the Cargill elevator in Windsor destined for Montreal. This was also her first downbound voyage under Canada Steamship Lines ownership. The P&H shields had been removed from her smokestack and bridge rails.
