Beechglen - Hull damage

The Beechglen is seen in this photograph secured at wharf 1 in Port Weller harbour with the tug
W.N. Twolan during the afternoon hours of May 30, 1991. She had arrived during the morning under tow from Cardinal
Ontario, where she had suffered a major accident during the process of unloading corn on April 30. With her #4 and 5
holds empty, #3 hold being unloaded and #1 and 2 holds still full her hull keel broke allowing the stern of the ship to
literally fold the hull as it sank to the bottom of the harbour. Fortunately the bottom wasn't far away and the stern
came to rest before taking on water. She was destined for Port Weller Drydocks at this time.
