Carol Lake - Edmonton, Canada

The straight deck bulk carrier Carol Lake is seen in this photograph as she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the afternoon hours of November 25th, 1986. At the time it was taken she was sailing upbound with a cargo of iron ore pellets from Quebec and was approaching lock 2 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

She sailed originally for Carryore Ltd. as Carol Lake. When this photograph was taken she was sailing for Algoma Central Marine and the following year she was renamed Algocape (1). In 1994 she was sold to Parrish & Heimbecker and renamed Mapleglen and in 2001 she was sold once again, this time to Canada Steamship Lines. She continues to sail today as Mapleglen however she carried Canads Steamship Lines colours on her smokestack.
