The chemical tanker Sakura Cob is seen in this photograph while underway in the St. Lawrence Seaway between the Snell and Eisenhower locks during the afternoon hours of 01/08/1988. Photograph by Capt. Alain Gindroz

Construction of this ship was ordered in November of 1984 and in March of 1985 the nearly completed ship was launched at the Asakawa Zosen Shipyard in Japan. During May of 1985 she entered service under the Panamanian flag as Tomoe 95. In the time since then she has sailed under the following names and flags. (a) Tomoe 95 (1986) - Panama, (b) Sakura Cob (1/91) - Panama then Singapore until (10/94), (c) Ikan Kembong (2/96) - Singapore (2/96) and when this picture was added to the archives she was sailing as (d) Alam Kembong under the flag of Malaysia for Pacific Carriers Pte Ltd.
