The general cargo vessel Patricia U is seen in this photograph while transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the afternoon hours of a day in the summer of 1982. She had just departed from lock 2 and was sailing northbound in the canal destined for lock 1 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Photograph by Jim Hoffman

This ship was built in England in 1960 as (a) Turakina and she sailed under this name until a sale in 1978. At that time she was given the name (b) Patricia U and transferred to the Greek flag. In 1982 she was sold again and renamed (c) Gulf Reefer however her service was to be short lived. On June 20th, 1983 she arrived in Astakos, Greece and laid up for what was to be her last time. On November 11th, 1985 she was reported sold to Maltese interests however two months later on January 17th, 1986 she arrived in Huangpu, China where she was later cut up for scrap.
