The 1970-built, 13,700-dwt, 9,464-grt general cargo vessel Palma is seen in this photograph while she was departing the port of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during August of 1975.

This ship was built in Turku, Finland along with five other sisterships by O/Y Wartsila A/B for Compania Peruana de Vapores S.A. She entered service late in 1970 as Palma and had been preceeded by Garcilaso (68), Sabogal (69), Vallejo (69), Tello (70) and Chocano (70).

Marine News Vol XLVII - "Palma - Owned by Cia. Peruana de Vap[ores S.A., Peru, was abandoned by her crew 11/6/93 when she was about 150 miles south ofRio Grande after suffering engine and steering failure in bad weather during a voyage from Santos, Brazil to Valparaiso. She was last sighted 14/6/93 drifting in Uruguayan waters off the River Plate, but has not been seen since." - It is assumed that the ship later sank. If you have more information about this ship's career or her fate please send me a Message.
