The 1972-built, 19,497 dwt bulk carrier Olynthia is seen in this photograph while she was departing Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during August of 1978. She was renamed Olyo in 1987, Nasos S in 1992 and Ocean Cruiser in 1997. On June 10th, 1998 she grounded off Verval, India during a tropical cyclone and sustained hull damage. At the time of the grounding she was on a voyage from Chennai, India to the United Arab Empirates. She remained aground through the end of June into July and was eventually sold to Saurashita Enterprises Ltd of Bhavnager, India for demolition. Work on dismantling the grounded hull commenced late in July. Photograph by Ray Thorsteinson.
