The 1969-built, 13,650-dwt, 8,802-grt, ice strengthened general cargo ship Novomirgorod is seen in this photograph while she was transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the afternoon hours of a day in July of 1991.

She was built in Turku, Finland by Oy Wartsila Ab for the Baltic Shipping Company of Russia as Novomirgorod. She sailed as such until October of 1996 when she was sold and renamed Sea Guardian. She was resold shortly thereafter and renamed Olympia 96 however it is not known whether she ever traded under this name. During May of 1997 she was sold to Namreen Enterprises for scrapping at Chittagong, Bangladesh. She arrived there on June 8th and work on dismantling the hull began shortly thereafter.
