The 1961-built, 4,795-grt general and refridgerated cargo vessel Nicolas P is seen in this photograph while she was transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of October 10th, 1983.

She was built in Brugge, Belgium and sailed as Orpheus until 1978 and Med Freezer until early in 1983 when she was sold to Siroco Maritime Inc., Panama and renamed Nicolas P. During January of 1986 she was laid up at Hamburg, Germany and in March of that year she suffered damage to some of her piping after they froze and ruptured on March 14th. Her machinery was damaged and the ship began listing as the water entered the hull.

Temporary repairs were soon made however her owners decided that additional investment in the ship was not worth the return and she was subsequently sold for dismantling. On December 4th, 1987 she departed Hamburg under tow and on January 15th, 1988 she arrived at Aliaga, Turkey where she was later cut up for scrap.
