The 1977-built, 15,030-dwt, general cargo vessel Neptune Peridot is seen in this photograph while she was sailing northbound on Lake Erie approaching the south entrance of the Welland Canal in Ontario, Canada. The photograph was taken during the evening hours of a day in May of 1988 as the ship was sailing for the Atlantic Ocean loaded with grain.

She was built in Japan and has sailed through her career so far under the names Neptune Peridot (93) and Bright Star since then. When this picture was added to the archives she was still listed as operational under this name for Dritique Investments Pte, Singapore. Photograph by Capt. Charles Tully courtesy Willem VanMaanen's collection.
