The 1970-built, 12,964-dwt, bulk carrier, Naruto Maru is seen in
this photograph while she was underway at Durban, South Africa sometime during 1978. She was built in
Japan and operated as Naruto Maru until 1979 for NYK/Okada Shosen and Atlantic until
1982. In March of that year she was sold to the Korea Line of South Korea and renamed Sonisbon.
By 1987 though her career had come to and end and she was sold for dismantling. On June 18th, of that
year she arrived Ulsan, South Korea where she was later cut up for scrap by the Hyundai Precision and
