The bulk carrier Mare Tranquillo is seen in this photograph while transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of a day in April of 1980. At the time it was taken she was secured alongside the approach wall below lock 3 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Photograph by Willem VanMaanen

This ship was built in Italy and entered service in 1967 under the Italian flag as (a) Mare Tranquillo. In 1982 she was renamed (b) Sitia Spirit and she sailed as such until 1983 under the Panamainan flag. In 1983 she was sold and renamed (c) Deljes by Mexican interests. Her career finally came to an end though in 1986 when she arrived at Kaohsiung, Taiwan on August 16th for dismantling.
