The bulker Magic Sun is seen in this photograph while transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the early afternoon hours of a day in May of 1982. This ship was built in Norway, launched in June of 1970 and entered service during September of that year as (a) Ondine. At that time she flew the French flag. In 1979 her renamings began and in subsequent years she sailed under the following names and flags. (b) Magic Sun Liberia (2/84), (c) Noble Evelyn Liberia (87), (d) Carino Cyprus (87), (e) Sea Queen Malta (87), (f) Haj Monen Syria (9/95) and (g) Pacific Ocean II under the flag of Belize. On July 31st, 1997 after a long career, she arrived at Chittagong, Bangladesh and ran herself up on a beach. On August 6th, crews began cutting her hull apart for scrap.
