Lykes Inspirer - limassol, Cyprus

The roll on / roll off bulk carrier Lykes Inspirer is seen in this photograph as she was approaching pier 12 east in Hamilton harbour on May 23rd, 2001. She was loaded with steel products and chrome ore, some of which had come from South Africa.

This ship's construction was ordered in October of 1987 at the Neptun-Warnow Shipyard in Germany. In May of 1990 she nearly completed ship was launched and in October of that year she entered service under the Russian flag as Krasnodon. In the time since then she has sailed under the following names and flags. (a) Krasnodon (10/96) - Russia, (b) Elena K (3/98) - Liberia, (c) Res Cogitans (8/99) - Cyprus, (d) Thorslake (10/2000) - Cyprus and when this photograph was added to the archives she was still operational as (e) Lykes Inspirer under the Cypriot flag
