The general cargo / container ship Dolly Turman is seen in this photograph while underway at Durban, South Africa during June of 1980. Photograph courtesy Kevin Moore from Willem VanMaanen's collection

This ship was built in the United States and entered service in 1967 as (a) Dolly Turman. She sailed her entire career under this name and owned by Lykes Bros. In July of 1985 she was withdrawn from merchant service and transferred to the United States Maritime Administration and laid up as part of the reserve fleet in Portland, Oregon. During 1986 sometime she was renamed (b) Cape Breton. If required the United States Military Command will re-activate her to transport military equipment to potential was zones around the world.
