The general cargo vessel Ashley Lykes is seen in this photograph while transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of September 20, 1989. At the time it was taken she was sailing southbound in the canal above lock 7 in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, in ballast and she was heading for ports on the Upper Great Lakes to load cargo.

Built in the United States in 1963 as Ashley Lykes and she sailed her entire career under this name. During April of 1995 she was renamed (b) Bhaskar however it unlikely that she traded under this name since she arrived at Alang, India on the 30th of that month for scrapping. She was finally beached on May 1st and crews began slicing her into recyclable pieces.
