The general cargo vessel Lucky Carrier is seen in this photograph while transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the late afternoon hours of August 8th, 1988. It was taken as she was sailing northbound in the canal above lock 7 in Thorold, Ontario, Canada destined for the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Atlantic Ocean loaded with North American grown grain.

Built in Spain during 1972 as Rio Marapa (87), (b) Lucky Carrier (4/89) and she ended her career as (c) A. J. 1. Her last voyage ended on May 30th, 1995 when she ran herself up on a beach at Chittagong, Bangladesh. Soon thereafter crews began cutting her up for scrap.
