Kriti Rubi - Greece

The general cargo vessel Kriti Rubi is seen in this photograph as she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours May 1st, 1987. At the time it was taken she was sailing southbound in the canal below lock 1 in the canal harbour at Port Weller, Ontario, Canada and she was destined for the Great Lakes.

Construction of this ship was ordered in December of 1976 at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shipyard in Japan. In January of 1978 she was launched and in May of 1979 she began trading as Kriti Rubi. In the time since then she has sailed under the following names and flags. (a) Kriti Rubi (9/89) - Greece, (b) Australian Express (11/89) - Panama, (c) Indian Resource (8/93) - India, (d) Norbulk Teak (10/2000) - Malta and when this photograph was added to the archives she was still operational as (e) Ebenezer under the flag of South Korea.
