The multi purpose vessel Kriti Pearl is seen in this photograph as she was transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of June 14th, 1987. At the time it was taken she was sailing northbound in the canal at Port Robinson destined for Lake Ontario in Ontario, Canada. Photograph by Gordon Turner

Construction of this ship was ordered in December of 1976 at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shipyard in Japan. She was launched in October of 1977 and in February of 1978 she entered service as Kriti Pearl. In the time since then she has sailed under these names and flags. (a) Kriti Pearl (9/89) - Greece, (b) Algerian Express (11/98) - Panama, (c) Indian Resolve (9/93) - India, (d) Norbulk Seraya (8/2000) - Malta and at the time this photograph was added to the archives she was still operational as (e) Eltanin under the flag of St. Vincent.
