The 1989-built, 11,898-dwt, 8,893-grt heavy cargo strengthened bulk carrier Kopalnia Borynia
is seen in this photograph while she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the

Photograph by Jeff Cameron.
She was built in Szczecin, Poland as hull number B547/01 by Stocznia Szczecinska im A. Warskiego
for the Polish Steamship Company (Polska Zegluga Morska - PZM) as Kopalnia Borynia. She is
one of many similar ships that have been built in Poland and in recent years the
Kopalnia Halemba and
Kopalnia Ziemowit have visted
the Great Lakes as well. When this picture was added to the archives in 1/2003 Kopalnia
Borynia was still operational as such for her Polish owners.
