The 1982-built, 22,713-dwt, 14,312-grt, bulk carrier Kastor P is seen in this photograph while she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the afternoon hours of November 23, 2002. At the time this picture was taken she was sailing southbound in the canal just south of lock 3 which is located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada destined for ports on the upper Great Lakes to discharge steel products.

She was built in Shimonoseki, Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. and she entered service early in 1983 as Sea Augusta. She sailed as such until 1985 when she was sold and renamed Jovian Lily. Six years of service followed under that name before she was sold to Artemis Shipping & Navigation Co. S.A., Greece and renamed Kastor P. When this picture was added to the archives in 1/2003 she was still operational as Kastor P. Photograph by Jeff Cameron.
