The general cargo vessel Kanwaljit is seen in this photograph while lying at anchor likely in Singapore during 1980. Willem VanMaanen collection

This ship was built in Japan and entered service during either late in 1975 or early in 1976 as (a) Blue Venus. Through her career she sailed under these name and flags. (a) Blue Venus Japan (86), (b) Francisca Cyprus (89) then Vanuatu for a few months, (c) Kanwaljit Panama (7/91) and finally (d) Jaipur under the flag of Singapore. During the summer of 1999 though, her usefullness came to an end and she was withdrawn from merchant service. On July 30th of that year she arrived at Mumbai, India, ran herself up on a beach and shut down for the last time. There crews quickly reduced her to scrap.
