This ship was built in Japan and entered service during January of 1964 as (a) Kanishka Jayanti. At that time she flew the flag of India. In 1974 her name was shortened to (b) Kanishka however her registration remained unchanged. On November 5, 1986 after 22 years of service she arrived at Alang, India, ran herself up on a beach and shut down for the last time. There she was broken up for scrap
