Hoegh Merit - Nassau, Bahamas

The 1977-built, 44,926-dwt, 30,987-grt general cargo and container carrier Hoegh Merit is seen in this photograph while she was unloading newspaper printing rolls from Saint John, Canada at the port of San Antonio, Chile on October 17th, 2002.

She was built in Nagasaki, Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. as Hoegh Merit for Leif Hoegh of Norway. Through her career she has sailed as Hoegh Merit (83), Westwood Merit (90), Star Merit (94), Hoegh Merit (94), Star Merit (95) and when this picture was added to the archives she was still listed as operational under the name Hoegh Merit for Hoegh & Company ASA, Norway.
