Flare - Limassol, Cyprus

The remains of the bulker Flare are seen here just prior to sinking on January 20th, 1998.
The photograph was taken on January 16th, shortly after the ship had broken in half in a position 46.57N and 56.51W south
of Newfoundland. Attempts at salvage were made but with no success and only four of her crew of 25 were recovered.
The ship had been built in 1972 and was familiar in the Great Lakes as Doric Flame, Flame and Flare.
