* In June of 1978 Fernfield was sold by P/R Fernfield (Fearnley & Eger), Norway to Dawn Maritime Corporation S.A., Panama (Ocean Tramping Co. Ltd.)
* On 23 June 1987 while Dayspring was on a voyage from Guangzhou, China to Antwerp, Belgium her cargo shifted in heavy seas and she developed a severe list. Shortly thereafter her crewmembers were rescued when the ship was in a position 05.43 North by 81.47 East which is just off the southeast tip of Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean.
* The foundering ship was last sighted on 24 June 1987 and sank shortly thereafter
