Faith Star - Limassol, Cyprus

The 1971/72-built, 16,914-dwt, 10,598-grt, bulk carrier Faith Star is seen in this photograph while she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the afternoon hours of September 13th, 1987. At the time it was taken she was sailing southbound in the canal just north of lock 2 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

She was built in Shimonoseki, Japan by the Hayashikane Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Ltd. for Triumph Carriers Inc., Liberia and she entered service during February of 1972 as Daishowa Venture. Through her career she sailed as Daishowa Venture (78), Harngjin (80), Indah Jumbo (82), Epidavros Gulf (83), Cape Sounion (87) and Faith Star. She arrived in India during November of 1996 where she was finally cut up for scrap.
