The 1987/89-built, 5,450-dwt, 63,524-grt International class cruise ship Arcadia is seen in this photograph while she was underway off Calshot, England on July 14th, 2002.

She was built in St. Nazaire, France by Chantiers de l'Atlantique (ALSTOM) for Sitmar Cruises Inc., England as Sitmar Fairmajesty. Prior to her entry into service though the entire Sitmar fleet was purchased by the P&O Steam Navigation Company and she was renamed Star Princess. She entered service for P&O Cruises Ltd. under the flag of Liberia.

In 1994 Star Princess was transferred to P&O Cruises Ltd., U.S.A. and then in 1995 she was transferred to Princess Cruises Inc. also of the U.S.A. however her name was unchanged and her flag remained Liberia. Late in 1997 she reverted to P&O Cruises Ltd., in England and her name was changed to Arcadia. When this picture was added to the archives she was still listed as operational under this name under the British flag.
