The multi purpose / heavy lift vessel BBC Japan is seen in this photograph transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of July 29, 2001. At the time it was taken she was sailing southbound in the Canal south of lock 3 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada destined for Thunder Bay to unload power generating windmills from Esberg and Aahrus, Denmark. The windmills are destined for Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada
