The 1980/81-built, 25,826-dwt, 16,389-grt iron ore strengthened bulk carrier Antonio Maceo is seen in this photograph while she was sailing downbound in the Welland Canal sometime during the Autumn of 1988. She was built in Varna, Bulgaria by the Varna Shipyard "Georgi Dimitrov" for the Government of The Republic of Cuba (Empresa Navegacion Mambisa) and the nearly completed ship was launched during October of 1990. Under the name Antonio Maceo she entered service during March of 1981. Since then she has sailed as Antonio Maceo (90), Sibanimar (91), Gulf Wave (97) and when this picture was added to the archives in 12/2002 she was still operational under the name Ocean Surf for Sea Route Navigation SA, Panama.
