She was built in Tamise/Temse, Belgium by N.V. Boelwerf S.A. for Marmandato Compania Naviera S.A., Greece and she was launched during May of 1970. In December of that year she entered service as Ektor. In the time since her construction she sailed as Ektor (87), Andrew H (92), Ektor (95), Viktor (95) and finally Bluewest until she was retired.
Bluewest was sold late in 1997 by the Bluewest Shipping Company Ltd. (Navex Maritime Inc.), Malta to shipbreakers in India for around $159.00/ldt or around $1.147 million (US). She arrived off the beaches of Alang, India on January 31st, 1998. Shortly thereafter she was beached and subsequently broken up for scrap.
