Aegis Magic - Piraeus, Greece

The 1974-built, 20,949-dwt, 12,621-grt, general cargo ship Aegis Magic is seen in this photograph while she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada July 12th, 1978.

She was built in Bilbao, Spain by Astilleros Espanoles S.A. - Factoria de Olaveaga as Aegis Wisdom. Through her career she sailed as Aegis Magic (84), Alpha Magic (86), Coppleham Cross (87) and Mitera Vassiliki until she was retired in 1996. She was sold to Indian ship breakers in September of that year for around $1.137 million (US) and she arrived at their yard in Alang on October 14th. There she was sliced up for scrap.
